Update from our ministry partners in Zambia – Life on Wheels:
In keeping with one of our objectives: to make life bearable for our friends living with disability, we had a wonderful privilege o f hosting the first ever Family Retreat for families with disability.
Our friends Delinda Carr, (accompanied by her Daughter Sarah), Vickie Blackson and George Pastuer made a trip back to Zambia, two years after they were last here. This time round, they travelled under the auspices of their ministry “Every Child is Worthy”.
They came to facilitate for a training on how to conduct a family retreat. The training was done over a 5-day period that included the Retreat. Trainees came from the same group of Physiotherapists, Teachers and Caregivers that had attended Wheelchair training in 2015 and 2016.
For the Retreat, 10 friends living with disability were invited with 2-3 members of their family. The participants in the training formed a team of helpers (volunteers) for each family and remained with them for the rest of the Retreat. The training and the Retreat took place at the Mukuba Hotel. So grateful to our friends from Every Child is Worthy who made it happen.
